Communications Manager

atai Life Sciences is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel treatments for mental health disorders so that everyone, everywhere can live a more fulfilled life. We are developing psychedelic and non-psychedelic compounds and cutting-edge digital therapeutic tools and are excited about anything that might mean a true leap forward for patients. We have offices in Berlin, London, New York, Boston and San Diego.   


The role  


As the Communications Manager, you will lead the development of written materials spanning from press releases to fact sheets, website copy and more. You have a keen understanding of the healthcare industry and will be able to communicate atai’s mission, and its recent news authentically to a variety of key stakeholders across different channels.

To succeed in this specific role, the following will also be important:


  • A degree in life sciences or a bachelor’s degree in English or journalism  
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional copywriting experience with a solid portfolio of work 
  • Experience with mental health and psychedelics is a plus   
  • You are highly organized and able to manage and deliver multiple projects with minimal guidance
  • You have knowledge and understanding of international regulatory bodies (MHRA, FDA, EMA) and understand the nuances of the ABPI code 
  • You can cut through complexity, breaking down complex scientific / business concepts in a way that will translate to multiple audiences 
  • Honesty/Integrity: Does what is right for patients. Speaks plainly and truthfully.
  • Proactivity: Intuitively chooses to act with high impact without being told what to do. Brings new ideas and initiatives to the company.
  • Cultural competence: understands multiple cultural frameworks, values and norms and can flex style appropriately in order to be effective across cultural contexts.
  • Ownership: Follow-through on verbal and written commitments. From time to time when needed proactively takes on additional responsibility not part of her/his defined accountability.
