Role Overview


Reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Controller will play an integral role in the future growth of the Finance function as we scale our operations in North America. We are leveraging our global brand and digital apps to launch new product offerings. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on individual who is seeking to be involved in building a finance function and make a difference in a high growth company. This position requires a well-rounded accounting professional with superior organizational, oral and written skills, a strong customer service focus, and the ability to develop and mentor a young finance team.


You will be responsible for all areas of financial reporting and compliance. You will oversee the month and quarter end close and financial reporting process at a corporate and business unit level for a publicly traded company on the Canadian Stock Exchange (CSE).


What You Will Do

  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Prepare the quarterly financial statements, notes, MD&A and supporting working papers for a publicly traded company on the CSE
  • Review and prepare month-end schedules, reconciliations and journal entries
  • Act as the first point of contact and respond to/coordinate external auditor requests
  • Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends and recommending actions to management
  • Develop, document and implement business process improvements, including implementation of an ERP system
  • Design, development and implement effective internal controls over financial controls
  • Increase productivity by developing automated accounting applications and coordinating information requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the business units and mentor and develop corporate accounting staff
  • Other ad-hoc projects as we continue to grow and develop

What you Bring to the Team:


  • 7 to 10 years of hands-on accounting experience, including experience with a publicly traded company in the technology or healthcare industry
  • Previous work experience as an auditor for a public Accounting firm is desired, but not required
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA). Full certification preferred, however CFE must be completed at a minimum.
  • Possess a solid understanding of public company reporting requirements with in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications under IFRS
  • Must have a good understanding of internal control framework
  • Experience consolidating multiple entities and multi-currency environments
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including written and oral communication with ability to communicate data and findings to operational staff and senior management
  • Customer service focus when interacting with Field Trip Health center staff and requests
