Payroll & Benefits Associate

What is the role (purpose):

The Payroll & Benefits Associate will allow for smooth functioning of our international, fast growing business, providing administrative support and assist the Benefit & Payroll Manager with the timely and accurate processing of Monthly, Bimonthly and Bi-weekly payroll for US, UK, Germany, Dutch, and Australia employees. The Payroll & Benefits Associate will maintain the internal controls established around payroll and benefit processing.


What you will achieve:

  • Process payroll and benefits in compliance with all applicable Federal, state, county rules, regulations and procedures for Domestic and International locations.
  • Enter payroll and benefits, and related data into computer systems, and maintain information system database; enter data, process transactions, validate data, and compile documentation.
  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of health insurance compliance for the ACA.
  • Review source documents for compliance to rules and regulations; determine proper handling of payroll and technical transactions within designated limits; report discrepancies.
  • Check documents for validity and accuracy of information; perform mathematical calculations; record, file and distribute related paperwork and technical documents.
  • Reconcile transactions and records according to policies; review payroll records and correct errors as required; assure the accuracy of the payroll and accounting records.
  • Collect payroll, benefits and administrative information and compile data for reports; identify and research payroll issues, and recommend solutions; prepare and distribute required reports.
  • Prepare payrolls for review, approval and submittal to the VP of Global Controller; generate technical payroll reports for government agencies; track and update employee information for taxes and benefit deductions, wage assignments, retirement, and other payments.
  • Provide information and assistance to employees as authorized; respond to requests for information, and attempt to resolve them by researching files and records within the scope of authority; refer matters requiring policy interpretation to supervisor for resolution.
  • Assure that all reports and paperwork are completed in a timely manner; update, correct, retrieve and release information according to procedures.

The following qualifications will get us excited to know you better:

  • Degree in business, accounting, or related field. Strong accounting background is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in biotech.
  • Minimum 5 years of ADP and TriNet experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of county, state, federal and international taxes required.
