About The Psychedelic Pharmacists Association (PPA):


The Psychedelic Pharmacists Association (PPA) is a 501c6 nonprofit professional association committed to advancing the role of pharmacists in the burgeoning field of psychedelic medicine. Our mission encompasses advocating for pharmacists as key interdisciplinary team members to ensure the responsible use of psychedelic medicines; educating pharmacists and non-pharmacists on the therapeutic potential of psychedelics; and collaborating with stakeholders to foster ethical practices within the industry. The PPA has been operating for 3 years, has 160 members, and is steadily growing.


Position Overview:


The PPA is seeking 3 dedicated individuals to join its Board of Directors. Board members play a critical role in guiding the strategic direction of the organization, co-creating the vision overarching the organization’s activities and ensuring the fulfillment of our mission. A board member’s term duration is 3 years. We are looking for passionate individuals who are committed to advancing psychedelic medicines and promoting the professional growth of pharmacists within this field. 


Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: As the highest level of leadership, Board Members provide strategic direction to advance the mission and goals of PPA.
  • Governance: Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, develop and oversee organizational policies, and maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the integration of psychedelic medicine into mainstream healthcare, and champion the role of pharmacists in this emerging field.
  • Education: Contribute to the development and dissemination of educational resources on psychedelic medicine, including but not limited to: pharmacology, therapy concepts, access, ethics, and harm reduction principles.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Nurture our growing community and build relationships with key stakeholders, organizations, and professionals in the field of psychedelic medicine to foster collaboration and partnerships.
  • Fundraising and Development: Assist in fundraising efforts to support PPA's initiatives and programs, and contribute to the development of sustainable funding strategies.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with PPA members and the broader community to understand their needs and priorities, and represent their interests in board discussions and decisions.
  • Committee Participation: Participate in, and provide oversight of, one or more committee groups depending on areas of expertise and interest. Examples of current PPA committees include: Education Committee, Communications Committee, Policy & Advocacy Committee.


Qualifications:

  • Passion: A strong commitment to the mission and vision of the PPA, and a passion for advancing psychedelic medicine and the professional development of pharmacists.
  • Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: pharmacy, healthcare, clinical practice, advocacy, fundraising, non-profit management, communication & marketing, law, or related fields.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership experience in a professional, volunteer, or academic setting, with the ability to balance strategic thinking with execution, and to inspire and motivate others.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, analyze complex issues, and make informed decisions to drive organizational success.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage conflict, effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, and communicate the PPA's message clearly and persuasively.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with other board members, staff, volunteers, and external partners to achieve common goals.
  • Integrity: Strong ethical values, integrity, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. This includes maintaining confidentiality and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Estimated Time Requirements: 3-5 hours per week (approximately 10-20 hours/month)


  • Meetings:
  • Once-monthly board meetings (2h), with approximately 1 hour of prep time
  • Once-monthly working group sessions (2h) with approximately 1 hour of prep time
  • Other Projects:
  • Dedicate 10-15 additional hours per month, as needed, of independent work to support the growth of the organization and the execution of organizational priorities 


It is typical for actual weekly & monthly time commitment to vary up and down depending on the week and individuals’ other commitments. The Psychedelic Pharmacists Association understands this and strives for work-life balance amongst its leaders.


Working Conditions: This is a remote position requiring work across multiple time zones. The position may infrequently require occasional travel to conferences. This can be adjusted based on individual preferences.
